Vitreous washing samples may require sharing between Microbiology, Biochemistry, Flow Cytometry and Cytology. Please check other laboratory collection requirements.
Sample triage may require consultation with the referring clinician or consultant pathologist in the event of insufficient sample.
Alfred Cytology is not able to process or report vitreous fluid samples. This is a specialist time critical sample requiring referral to St Vincents Pathology Cytology Service. Prior discussion with St Vincents Cytology Service (ph 9288 4114) regarding sample collection and dispatch should occur prior to sample collection. |
