| Collection & Request Instructions: | The Anatomical Pathology Unit provides a comprehensive general and specialist diagnostic histopathology and cytopathology service to The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield hospitals. The Anatomical Pathology Unit also manages the Mortuary and autopy services at The Alfred.

Laboratories: are located on the ground floor of the Main Ward Block, towards the rear south west of the building (adjacent the old Monash Medical School building).

Pathologist On-Call - Contact via Alfred Switchboard 9076 2000
Anatomical Pathology provides a roster of on-call pathologists to support some aspects of the service outside of routine hours.
Specimen related issues; for example advice on specimen handling – Contact can be made between 9 am to 9pm Monday to Friday, Weekends and Public Holiday.
Urgent diagnostic issues: for example transplant rejection or intraoperative consultation – Contact can be made by Clinical staff at any time. |

Scientist On-Call - contact via Pathologist On-call
Anatomical Pathology provides a roster of on-call Histology Scientists to support the Pathologist on-call outside of routine hours with aspects of the histopathology service. Contact with the on-call Scientist is made through the on-call pathologist. On-call histopathology services cover transplant rejection, intraoperative consultation or urgent biopsy processing as directed by the pathologist.
