Test only performed on Hepatitis B surface antigen POSITIVE patients unless authorised by Microbiology Registrar.
Requests for urgent testing must be approved by the Microbiology Unit Head.
This test is used in conjunction with, rather than instead of, the regular serologic tests. It is mainly used to monitor antiviral therapy in patients with chronic HBV infections.
