Collection & Request Instructions

*New - For blood samples - Collect both a 10 ml EDTA + PAXgene tube. Monash are now running the geneexpert for BCR-ABL p210 in parallel with the older assay.*

For Bone Marrow samples only an EDTA container is required.

Liase with the Haematology Registrar on ext 63075 before collecting any urgent BCR-ABL testing.

Need 2.5ml of Blood in a PAXgene tube and/or 3 mL of Bone Marrow in EDTA.

PAXgene tubes are stable for 3 days at room temperature and can be collected 7 days a week.

Additional Notes:

Test must be performed within 48 hours of specimen collection. Do not collect blood or bone marrow for this test on days preceding public holidays/long weekends. Collections on Fridays or days preceding a public holiday/long weekend must arrive at the Clayton laboratory by 12pm. Samples collected after 12pm on a Friday or a day preceding a public holiday/long weekend or on a Saturday will not be accepted
