B12 results should be interpreted in the clinical context and in the light of other results available; e.g. FBE and Blood Film.

Only a minority of patients with B12 levels between 130-250 pmol/L will exhibit true deficiency.

A normal value does not exclude deficiency if there is a high index of suspicion clinically.
