Wards/Theatre: Place fresh placenta in a biohazard bag labelled with patient's details and then into a pail labelled with the patient's details. Attach the request form to the pail and forward to Anatomical Pathology.

Where examination by Anatomical Pathology at the Royal Womens Hospital is preferred by the W@S unit the specimen should be sent directly to Pathology at the Royal Womens Hospital using the RWH courier service.

Wards/Theatre: Place fresh placenta in a biohazard bag labelled with patient's details and then into a pail labelled with the patient's details. Attach the request form to the pail and forward to Anatomical Pathology.

Where examination of the placenta by Anatomical Pathology at Monash Health Pathology is preferred by the clinician the specimen can be sent directly to Monash Pathology.
