Information on the Coronial Process for Family Members

The loss of a family member or friend is a very painful experience. The involvement of the Coroner in the investigation of a death can add to this pain. Coronial intervention into the grieving process can be distressing particularly when the role of the Coroner is not understood and the rights and roles of family members are not explained and respected.

The State Coroners Office and the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine produce  information sheets to help family and friends become familiar with the Coronial process and the services offered through the State Coroner's Office.

This information can be viewed or printed via the links below or accessed directly from the State Coroners Office website athttp://www.coronerscourt.vic.gov.au/  The Coroners website offers a range of information to assist family members
