Note: A separate EDTA tube is required for PTH testing.

If requesting both FBE and PTH - 1  x 3 mL  and 1 x 10 mL EDTA tubes must be collected and sent to the laboratory for analysis.

 

ADD ON requirements- Note-  PTH CANNOT be added on retrospectively.

If test required please recollect EDTA specimen.

Interpretation depends on serum calcium level, renal function and Vitamin D status.

Note: Biotin supplementation may cause falsely low results due to interference with the PTH assay. If the patient is known to be taking Biotin, interpret results with caution and contact the Chemical Pathologist if further discussion is required.
