Collection & Request Instructions

May be indicated in investigation of hypercalcaemia.

Consultation and approval with Endocrinologist or Chemical Pathologist is required.

This is a non-MBS test and a signed patient consent form is required.

Must be collected into a special EDTA tube containing Leupeptin and Aprotinin (available from Biochemistry)

After collection place on ice and send to laboratory for immediate processing.

Please collect a specimen for ionised calcium (SST) and PTH (EDTA) at the same time.  Results to be sent to Sullivan Nicolaides along with the PTHrP referral.
