Collection & Request Instructions

Foods containing appreciable amounts of collagen should be avoided in the 24 hrs prior to specimen collection. These foods include meats an meat products, gravy and even confectionary and ice-cream containing gelatin.

The patient fasts from 8pm on the night before collection. On waking the bladdder is voided and urine discarded. The next urine is collected 1-2 hours later at which time breakfast may be eaten.
