CSF Microtube

Collected as part of Phenylalanine challenge protocol

Sets of five CSF microtubes can be collected from the Chemical Pathology Registrar (stored in their office, on shelf in box marked "CSF Microtubes).

Processing Instructions:

Samples contaminated with blood must be centrifuged and the supernatant transferred to a clean labelled tube before freezing.

Transport Instructions between Sites and/or Laboratories:

Microtubes must be collected onto Ice slurry and delivered immediately to specimen reception.

Assay Frequency:Monthly
External Laboratory:The Children's Hospital at Westmead
External Transport Instructions:Send Frozen on Dry Ice

 

Turnaround time for testing can be up to a month

Send CSF microtube number 3 frozen with request form

Pack with sufficient dry ice to arrive frozen in Sydney.

Samples arriving in Sydney after 2 pm may not be processed until the following day.

MUST BE APPROVED BY A CHEMICAL PATHOLOGIST
