This test is performed during business hours Mon to Fri. Requests for testing on weekend days must be discussed with and approved by the Chemical Pathologist.

If BTP in the fluid sample is:

<0.7mg/L: presence of CSF is improbable

≥1.3mg/L: presence of CSF is likely

If BTP in the fluid sample is 0.7-1.29mg/L consider ratio.

If ratio is <2.0: presence of CSF is improbable

If ratio is ≥2.0: presence of CSF is likely
