Males: First void urine is the preferred specimen. A urethral swab is the alternative specimen.
Females: First void urine or cervical/vaginal swab are the preferred specimen types.
Screening of asymptomatic individuals is not recommended.
Red-capped universal transport medium swabs or eSwabs can be used.
