Alfred Cytology Service
The Anatomical Pathology Unit provides a comprehensive general and specialist diagnostic cytopathology service to The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield hospitals.
LOCATION & CONTACTS
The Cytology Laboratory: is located on the ground floor of the Main Ward Block, towards the rear south west of the building (adjacent the old Monash Medical School building). The Alfred Cytology Service is part of the Anatomical Pathology Unit.

Specimens for Cytology are sent to the Anatomical Pathology Unit via Pathology Central Specimen Processing (also known as Pathology Central Reception) or through the Alfred Pathology Collection Centre. All specimens must be accompanied by an Alfred Pathology Service request form, containing relevant clinical information, in addition to a Medicare assignment form.
