Platelet Aggregation Studies require approval with the Haematology Laboratory prior to collection. Please call ext 63109 before proceeding

Test by appointment only, following consultation with laboratory haematology medical staff. Assay only valid if platelet count is adequate( >100 x 10 9/L) in most cases. Request should include information on bleeding history and medication.

Specimens cannot be analysed or re-analysed greater than 4 hours after collection.

2.7 mL of blood is drawn into six (6) sodium citrate vacuum tubes.  These are kept at room temperature and sent to the laboratory asap.
