Collection & Request Instructions:

A nasopharyngeal swab or aspirate is the preferred specimen for this test.

Nasopharyngeal swabs should be collected using a dry swab (preferred specimen) and placed in a single tube of sterile saline (available from the lab).

If both Respiratory virus PCR and Bordetella pertussis PCR are required, a single specimen is now suitable.
